Love Is A Decision

When comes to the topic of love, it’s extremely broad and highly subjective with tailored experiences. There are many kinds that one can think of: physical love, romantic love, platonic/friendship love, relational love such as parental, sisterly, brotherly, and sibling love, or love for creations, for animals, love for intangible pursuits like ideas and thoughts or tangible possessions like cars or houses. There are higher forms of love like spiritual love and worldly love that cast wide acceptance and are meant to transcend above typical human values.

Love is more than an emotional expression as it is often being associated with in our daily interactions. Each of these forms of love is expressed uniquely with its own flavor and warmth, they touch us in a way that deepens a connection.

What I have learned today is that Love is more of a decision than anything else.

Love is choosing to forgive yourself and your enemies for the sake of inner peace, love is embracing the flaws of those closest to you and counting your blessings. Love is exerting control over negative sentiments that otherwise bring you down. Love is more than an emotion, it is a decision. It is not a question of whether you feel it or not, it is about the acts of it. We need to make it a decision to act lovingly towards those whom we treasure. Don’t regret them when we’ve lost them. Rather than passively letting our feelings take control, make it our motivation to do the act and decide to love.

Eventually, our emotions will catch up to our obedience.

So decide to love someone who is getting on your nerve today.
