Life Fables for the Super Committed Individuals
A Take on Self-Betterment Through Reflections from Ancient Chinese Fables and More.
The Inner Voice — We all have that inner voice, affirming the decisions that we made, and our adherence to principles. Nobody likes to be told what to do, how to act, or when they are wrong and need to change. Pride, self-righteousness, assertiveness, confidence, and determination are just some outstanding examples of characteristics that we all possess that help us navigate through the muddy water of daily lives.
Sometimes we are so caught up in our own vision and passion that we lost sight of the guardrails that prevent us from being someone we oughtn’t — a self-obsessive jerk? 😊 we grew immune to the warning lights of self-examination and correction. I was an extremely driven and prideful person; I was blessed with the resources and talents to excel academically and professionally. I became so self-assured that I had a hard time taking in and processing advice from others.
In recent years, what helped me to become more receptive and recognize my problems are the fables, stories that I accidentally came across, heard when I was a child, or read on Medium such as Berthran Benaiah’s fable on the Danish Fable. Through the narrative and the concluding takeaway, my heart would come to a natural realization based on the story told.
As Galileo said: “You can’t teach a man anything, you can only help him find it within himself”.
I believe this is the strongest motivation behind this book that I put together — Life Fables for the Super Committed: Inspiring Tales for Building a Better You. These fables and tales serve as a mirror reflecting back on the self we have become, including the good and the bad, lessons we ought to learn, changes we must make to recognize the shortcoming within and to realize we aren’t the perfect beings that we made ourselves to be, and there are plenty of things that need to be changed, and we must open ourselves to those improvements.
Super Commitment — There is an interesting notion about being “Super Committed”, I think it’s a mentality that everyone should adopt to succeed in life, to become self-assured and committed to greatness. To quantify into 3 reasons:
- The inclusion of this term is to highlight the hope that this book isn’t just for casual reading, but more importantly, to inspire a sense of awareness, awareness of self-lacks, deficiencies, failings, and the need for building stronger characters and values, to be tough and more resilient in our daily pursuits for greatness.
- To encourage people to be super committed in order to find a new, better version of themselves, not just making a temporary change when things get tough, but going after a long-term, sustained renewal. Life is about adaptation and constant improvement because nothing stays the same, everything changes, and we must adapt to take on the new challenges that life will throw at us.
- This book is for those who are in a committed mentality to make a change in his/her life, who recognize that they need to improve to get to the next level, to achieve a better self, to get to the next goal, to be better than what they were before, and they are doing everything they can do get there, including finding materials such as this to SOLIDIFY to their efforts.
I hope you will find this book an interesting and inspiring read. (Book Link)
